Rachel Comey
As a young costume designer in New York, Rachel Comey found herself a loyal cult following while designing menswear for local musicians. After years of freelancing around town, she eventually landed a gig with David Bowie, charging him only $100 for two hand-painted shirts. In 2001 she launched her menswear line, later adding womenswear in 2004. Comey’s collections have become known for using handmade textiles combined with modern downtown silhouettes.
