Midi Pods Dress in Black by Issey Miyake

The PODS series is an example of Issey Miyake's original design and making, and combines traditional craft with modern pleating technology. The fabric is first pleated, and then it is tightened and bound by hand by tie-dyeing craftspeople in Kyoto one at a time before dyeing. To minimize the bleed of the dyes, the fabric is bound in a specific way and with various kinds of strings that is touched on in this video. This sleeveless dress has pleating at the neck, waist and hem. The waistband features an adjustable, elastic draw-cord.
