UBBY

Ubby is the collaborative project of Emily and Joey Versoza, two married artists. Their backgrounds, though polyvalent, are rooted in photography and painting respectively - Ubby is a natural extension of their own artwork and studio investigations.  Ubby's practice is rooted in a shared curiosity about the visual languages of fashion, art, and humor - how they overlap, contradict, and conspire. Ubby is an ongoing exploration of levity, materiality, and emotional resonance. Serious and silly, earnest and winking. Ubby's accessories embrace contradiction. What happens when the everyday is recontextualized through softness, absurdity, or skewed precision? Can a fruit become a vessel? A purse become a punchline? Ubby plays with the codes of luxury while poking gentle fun at them, favoring materials like silk and leather but twisting their application into something strange, tactile, and a little perverse.
