Idlewild's 6 Favorite Downtown Cincinnati Coffee Shops

Posted by Jessica Murray on

If you're like us, grabbing a coffee from a local coffee shop is a precious part of your weekend routine. Grab a coffee, hit the market, do some window shopping! We've compiled a list of Idlewild's 6 favorite downtown Cincinnati coffee shops we like to frequent before a bit of retail therapy, and what we would wear to each of them!

A neighboring business, 1215 as we call it, is the one we frequent most often (we'll never tell if it's more for the wine or the coffee 😉 ). Right in the heart of OTR you can take your pick from a selection of delicious lattes, tea, and wine. You can't go wrong with this neighborhood favorite. Grab a Moxy pastry while you're there to curb your appetite. We like to visit our friends at Mica 12/v and peruse their locally made wares while we're nearby.
What we would wear: An oversized white button down by Planet or MM6 paired with wide leg jeans like these by Ulla Johnson or a flared denim like this pair by Mother Denim.

If you haven't had the "Woah" Latte from Black Coffee Lounge, you're severely missing out. Make sure to look around and enjoy the featured art created by local artists. And while you're there, stop by BlaCk Owned Outerwear around the corner, for all your Street Style related needs.
What we would wear: A chunky bright orange sweater like this one by Rachel Comey paired with a mini skirt by Rodebjer with chunky black boots by Lofina.

If Over-the-Rhine wasn't our first love, Pendleton would surely be it. We can't get enough of the Italian Renaissance Revival architecture! A short walk from our store on Vine Street, we love grabbing a coffee to-go from Urbana and admiring the gorgeous homes and buildings before wandering back to our beloved Over-the-Rhine.
What we would wear: We want something warm and cozy to walk the neighborhood and Lauren Manoogian knitwear is where it's at. Style with a beanie and a scarf and we're ready for that hot chai.

This new walk-up window coffee shop is located on Jackson Street just behind Idlewild! We like Sunny Blu for when we need something to-go! In the summer, make sure to try their ice cream.
What we would wear: Something blue like this Kowtow dress. Need we say more?

A tried and true. Collective Espresso is tucked on a one-way street just off of Main Street in OTR. We love the tiny menu and big doors on this OG coffee shop. If you're in need of lunch, grab a sandwich from their other business across the street; The Takeaway on Main.
What we would wear: The store front of Collective Espresso reminds us of Europe. Naturally, we'd wear a chic, all black ensemble while grabbing an espresso from this spot.
With two locations downtown, it's hard to pass up grabbing a latte from Deeper Roots. The Findlay Market location is our go-to but we love their newest location on Historic West Fourth Street for working remotely.
What we would wear: a cozy knit dress by Lauren Manoogian and a large tote to walk around Findlay Market after grabbing our drink.
